Robert Bell, Principal of Consilium Evolve Sunderland, has been named SEND Leader of the Year at the National School Awards 2025. The award was presented to Robert at a prestigious ceremony on Wednesday night ( 3rd December 2025) held at the House of Lords.
The National Schools Awards brings together over 250 education pioneers to recognise, celebrate and reward senior leaders, schools and multi-academy trusts for their dedication and hard work over the year.
Under Robert’s leadership, Consilium Evolve has transformed the lives of students who previously struggled in mainstream education.
His student-focused strategies, including tailored morning ‘soft landing’ sessions and bespoke one-to-one support, have ensured students are emotionally ready to engage in learning and achieve outstanding academic outcomes.
Robert’s leadership has led Consilium Evolve to significant recognition by Ofsted, with inspectors highlighting that the school is a “happy, content and vibrant school in which pupils thrive” and noting that the evidence suggests it “would be graded outstanding if inspected today”.
