Students from Heworth Grange School have successfully completed their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice expeditions, taking part in challenging routes across the Northumberland coast and surrounding countryside.

Teddy, a Year 8 student from Moorside High School, has been selected to co-captain the Derbyshire U13s county side for the 2026 season.

Competing against a strong field of schools, our students demonstrated fantastic commitment, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Heworth Grange School students wowed audiences with its annual Dance Show at the Phil Welsh Theatre on 26th March. Featuring students from Years 7–11, the performance showcased a dynamic range of styles, from Jazz and Hip-Hop to Ballet and Afro Beats.

Moorside High School, has just wrapped up an exciting Science Week, with students engaging in a host of hands-on and creative activities both in and out of the classroom.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant, John Shell from Washington Academy, part of Consilium Academies, has been recognised nationally for his outstanding contribution to education after being invited to attend a prestigious Education and Skills Garden Party hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Buckingham Palace.

During British Science Week, Thornhill Academy students from years 8 and 9 completed a 12-week STEM project designing a sustainable school for an island setting.

Students from Heworth Grange School, part of Consilium Academies, recently took part in an exciting and immersive Stage and Screen Masterclass at Northern School of Art, giving them valuable hands-on experience in film production.

 It was brilliant to see all our schools across Consilium Academies celebrating the joy of reading last week as part of World Book Day.

Students and staff took part in a wide range of activities designed to promote reading for pleasure, including competitions, quizzes, book sharing events and dedicated time to enjoy reading together. 

The week of celebrations highlighted the importance of reading in education and encouraged pupils to discover new books and develop a lifelong love of reading.

Year 10 students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to Manchester Museum as part of National Careers Week.
