  • Armthorpe Academy Celebrates Outstanding Victory at Doncaster Schools Athletics Championships

Students from Armthorpe Academy are celebrating a remarkable sporting achievement after both the KS3 and KS4 boys’ teams were crowned overall champions at the recent Doncaster Schools Athletics Championships.

Competing against 18 schools from across the region at the prestigious English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, Armthorpe’s KS3 and KS4 boys emerged 1st overall in their respective categories.

The Championships brought together some of the strongest young athletes in Doncaster, with students competing across a range of track and field events. Armthorpe’s athletes demonstrated exceptional determination, consistently performing at the highest level and supporting one another throughout the competition.

Jonny Dwyer, Head of PE at Armthorpe Academy, said:

“We are immensely proud of our students! Their commitment to training, their determination to succeed, and the way they supported each other on the day truly reflects the values we promote at Armthorpe. To finish 1st overall in both KS3 and KS4 against such strong competition is an outstanding achievement.”

Beyond medals and podium finishes, the Championships highlighted the wider impact of sport within the academy. Participation in competitive sport plays a vital role in developing confidence, discipline and resilience. It teaches young people the importance of teamwork, leadership and perseverance - qualities that shape who they are today and who they will become in the future.

Armthorpe Academy is proud to be part of Consilium Academies, where a strong emphasis is placed on opportunity, personal development and excellence both inside and outside the classroom. Sporting success such as this reflects the academy’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded students who strive for their very best.

Congratulations to all the students and staff involved in this fantastic achievement. Armthorpe Academy looks forward to building on this success in future competitions.
