Wyvern Academy Students Explore Geography Beyond the Classroom
Year 10 and Year 11 Geography students from Wyvern Academy enjoyed a fantastic educational trip to Newcastle, putting their classroom learning into practice as they explored the city and surrounding areas.
A particular highlight of the visit was the opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Millennium Bridge, an iconic landmark on Newcastle and Gateshead’s Quayside.
Students learned more about the bridge’s history, design and significance, while developing their understanding of how landmarks can shape the identity and development of a city.
The trip also provided some memorable opportunities to meet people involved in the local community, with Wyvern’s Head Boy, Shawn, enjoying the chance to speak with the Mayoress of Newcastle during the visit.
The day gave students the opportunity to see Geography beyond the classroom, bringing their learning to life through real-world experiences.
It was a fantastic day of exploring, learning and experiencing the subject first-hand, and one that students and staff thoroughly enjoyed.
