Heworth Grange is delighted to have been awarded the Music Mark of Recognition for Ambition and Quality, recognising the school’s strong commitment to delivering high-quality music education for its students.
As part of this recognition, Heworth Grange has been nominated for free Music Mark membership, acknowledging the school as a key partner in the local Music Education Hub and a valued supporter of Gateshead Music Service.
The award highlights the value Heworth Grange places on music within the curriculum and its continued commitment to providing meaningful and enriching musical opportunities for young people through partnership working. Heworth Grange also prides itself on its exceptional performing arts programme, which brings students from all friendship groups together, helps build confidence, and fosters an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive creatively.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for their dedication to music. This recognition reflects the hard work and creativity that runs through our music department and the wider school community. We are committed to continuing to provide exciting opportunities that inspire and develop our young people through music.”
Erin Anderson, Director of Art and Culture at Heworth Grange.
Music Mark is the UK Association for Music Education, championing access to music for all children and young people. Through this membership, Heworth Grange will benefit from a wide range of support, including:
A programme of training and events offering professional development opportunities, national updates, practical sessions and peer-to-peer networking
Access to a comprehensive resources library for curriculum inspiration, guidance documents and advocacy materials
Regular email newsletters sharing the latest sector news, training, events, resources and opportunities
Music Mark works across the sector to support schools and organisations in delivering high-quality musical and social outcomes for all children and young people. The Music Mark of Recognition is supported through a national partnership with ABRSM, which also provides additional resources to support music education in schools.
Alongside this recognition, Heworth Grange is excited to have recently started rehearsals for their latest school production, The Little Mermaid, which will take place in June. This follows the huge success of Frozen the Musical, performed by students last June, and reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to celebrating creativity, performance, and the arts.
